Athens Photo Festival 2015

From: 03.06.2015 To: 26.07.2015 Share

Athens Photo Festival, the leading international festival of photography in Southeastern Europe, for the first time, this year, will take place at the Benaki Museum Pireos Street Annexe.

Each year the festival focuses on a specific theme, encompassing a range of photo-based practices, exploring how photography in its most expanded form may produce a relevant experience for the viewer. The 2015 edition’s theme titled “Reframing Memory” is focused on the interconnections between collective and individual memory, time and perception, exploring the relationship between past and present, both experimental and mainstream.

The main programme of the APhF consists of a series of featured exhibitions by 78 artists from over 35 countries around the world as well as a range of events such as portfolio reviews, talks, screenings and educational activities.

In addition to the main venue-based section, the satellite programme encourages community involvement through parallel exhibitions and activities across the city of Athens in galleries, cultural centers and institutions.

Athens Photo Festival is a member of the European Month of Photography (EMoP), a network comprised of photography festivals in 8 European capitals.

Under the motto “We Speak Photography”, Photo Voices is designed as a set of short and inspiring talks to share thought provoking images and words into a broad range of global issues relevant to our contemporary world. Photo Voices 2015 will be held at the Benaki Museum (Auditorium) on Friday 5 June (17:00-21:00).
