OTE GROUP: New assessments from sustainable development indexes confirm significant ESG performance

  • One of the first companies listed on the Athens Stock Exchange’s new Athex ESG index
The OTE Group’s significant performance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues is confirmed by its assessments and participation in international sustainable development indexes, along with leading companies around the world. Specifically, OTE remains on the FTSE4Good global indexes for the 13th consecutive year, as well as on the Best Emerging Market Performers Ranking by V.E, part of Moody’s ESG Solutions, for the 3rd consecutive year. OTE is also one of the first listed companies to be included in the new Athex ESG index for its transparency regarding its performance on ESG issues.

Sustainable development index assessments for the first half of 2021


FTSE4Good Emerging Index

For 13 consecutive years, OTE was assessed and remains on the FTSE4Good sustainable investment index series as one of 7 Greek companies on the FTSE4Good Emerging Index, as a result of its ESG performance. A total of 560 companies from 24 countries participate in this index. 40 of them are from the telecommunications sector.

The FTSE4Good index series was created by the global FTSE index provider FTSE Russell to evaluate companies with significant ESG performance. The FTSE4Good index series is utilised by a number of market organizations in the context of creating and evaluating socially responsible investment capitals and other products.

Vigeo-Eiris Best Emerging Market Performers Ranking

Based on its July 2021 assessment, OTE is on the Best Emerging Market Performers Ranking by V.E, part of Moody’s ESG Solutions, for the 3rd year, as one of the 100 most advanced companies in terms of ESG issues in developing markets. A total of 843 companies from 36 sectors and 31 countries were assessed. The 100 with the highest score were included in this list. OTE is one of 4 companies in Greece included in this ranking.

ΑΤΗΕΧ ESG index

OTE was included in the Athens Stock Exchange’s new ESG Index, along with 34 other listed companies. The Athex ESG Index will monitor the stock market performance of listed companies that adopt and promote ESG practices. A study from the Investment Applications Lab of the University of Athens evaluated listed companies’ adoption of ESG goals, as reported in the non-financial data published and standardized in accordance with the Athens Stock Exchange’s “ESG Information Disclosure Guide”. Over the past two years, the OTE Group has used this guide to develop its annual Integrated Sustainable Development Report.
