Overview
The Oral Business English program is our hugely popular 30-hour specialist training course for professionals wishing to improve oral fluency and accuracy as well as extend their business English vocabulary range.  It involves carefully structured highly interactive workshops and covers topics of interest to today’s business professionals.

Who is this course for?
The course is for professionals from all industries who wish to gain confidence and strengthen their oral skills in English in order to communicate more effectively in a variety of contexts.

Previous participants have included professionals from the following industries: pharma; engineering and construction; banking; the media and entertainment; and energy among many others.

Why Attend?
Success in business hinges on effective communication skills. Developing oral competency in a business environment is crucial for communicating ideas, persuading, building relationships, increasing productivity and much more. This course will allow participants to improve their oral skills in a dedicated learning environment with working professions having similar goals.  The course also provides training on:
  • Improving pronunciation for enhanced intelligibility (challenging English sounds, word stress, sentence stress, connected speech, intonation)
  • Presentation skills
  • Building grammar competency
  • Developing effective learning strategies
  • The group size is strictly limited to 16 participants.

Certificate of Participation
In order to be awarded the Certificate of Participation from the Deree – School of Graduate and Professional Education, participants need to attend 70% of the course, complete 7 online tasks and deliver a short presentation in week 10.

Duration
The course runs for 10 consecutive weeks and consists of a 3-hour workshop per week
(30 contact hours in total).

Course Fees
Regular single participant fee: €260

A 10% discount (€234 per participant) is available for members of the ACG community, Professional Education past participants, companies who register two or more employees and unemployed.

Lia Kalianos, DELTA MA CertIBET
Lia is a bilingual DELTA-qualified Business English Trainer in the School of Graduate and Professional Education at Deree – The American College of Greece. She has valuable experience of designing and facilitating open group and in-company Business English and English for Specific Purposes Training courses, both face-to-face and blended. Lia also teaches English for Academic Purposes at Deree – The American College of Greece.

Lia has a diploma in teaching ​English to adults (Cambridge DELTA) and is certified in International Business English Training (Trinity College London) as well as Intercultural Training (International House London). She is currently joint Coordinator of the TESOL Greece Adult Learner Special Interest Group.

Lia has earned BA(Hons) and MA degrees from University College London (UCL), The University of London.
